    HI guys

Im working on some brand artwork that explores complexity & beauty out of simplicity – yes, that old one 🙂

I like to develop some nice organic forms from interlocking primitives – ideally pyramids, tetrahedrons… ideally anything fairly ‘simple’ i.e. not a 32 sided sequasmamegahedrons – that I can explode, distort twist in organic ways… kind of mirroring nature… buckminster fuller inspired stuff…

Obviously I know how to do this with a matrix of cubes and some mograph effectors.. but obviously a grid of cubes doesnt make for very interesting shapes.. just bigger square polygons 🙁

My grasp of maths is about as good as a smart 8 year so If anyone can help with links, formulas, models, effectors Id really appreciate it…

    Elin

    **edit**

this is kind of what im talking about – except i need it translated into dummy language 🙂

It’s all the those pesky details :p

thanks adam – thats interesting – unfortunately cant run the .exe – but has given me some ideas…

I guess what im essentially talking about is 3d tiling of objects, without any gaps – almost escher like – in its simplest, base form like a cube of cubes, or pyramid of pyramids…

from this base form i would then like to clone, fan, explode elements into waves, crests, shells etc and other organics… maybe using pBlurp to morph between the two…

…but maybe i should just stick to illustrator and stop making life difficult for myself 😉

It’s all the those pesky details :p

Weeelll, it’s certainly possible with Cinema’s native tools — just takes some modeling skill and some time. There’s a plugin that might make your life easier if you decide to plow ahead: https://www.lotsofpixels.com/c4dplugins/fusionThing/index.html

You might also investigate the MoGraph extrude object.
