    Hi

this may seem obvious to many avid users, but i have been solely on fcp for almost 10 years, so much has been forgotten.

I digitised a clip, lets call it A, it was about 3 mins long. i made 4 or 5 subclips from this. I then found out that i needed to grab a lot more ffotage in one pass, so i deleted the old media from Master Clip A, and captured from the same tape a much longer master clip, lets call that one B. because the start and end time of A is inside the start and end time of B, cant i re-link my A master clip to B’s media, and have all subsequent subclips originally made from a now point to media B?

I had tried this, and i kept getting either “No clips were relinked…” or “DISC_FILE_NOT_FOUND” error messages.

All i know about the system is theyre are 4 workstations, all PC all MC 4 (the latest) and they just put in a unity.

FWIW i gave up after 10 minutes, and just reclipped B.

    any thoughts? thanx!

FCP was OK but its nice to be back on avid!

You can only relink master clips to master clips with an equal length. Subclips and sync clips you may relink to whatever master clips contains matching metadata (tape, timecode).
