I have these birds on separate layers – (one bird marked with green arrow)

    these are flying and moving

and I have a background of ‘squiggly’ lines – almost a texture in the background.

How can I make the lines in the background layer move away and around the birds as they fly about —— (marked in blue arrows)

This would make it look like the birds are interacting and affecting the background layers.

Is this possible on aftereffects – and if yes would anyone know how or have a tutorial for that?

I think what you’re describing sounds like it could be solved using a Proximty expression.

    Hey Oona,

If the requirement is to have that many birds to fly around whilst flapping their wings and moving their heads. You might be better off with animation software, or gaming software.

Unity for personal usage starts from free.

Graham might be right. Theres a free ‘toolkit’ from Anti Static that contains proximity effectors..

thanks for replying – right now im only looking to affect the background – the animation in this case is frame by frame hand drawn birds… the challenge is that I’m looking to affect ‘texture’ file that is raster tiff file – with this drawn animation bird which has alpha….

the proximity expression and the toolkit seems to work with vector files and shape layers – but I could find a work around with those probably… will keep you all posted 👍
