I wondered if someone could offer any advice about the best way to light my scenes. Although not an expert, I am reasonably comfortable using C4D for small scenes – either using GI or not – but most of my work is for the retail industry where a typical shop unit might have 100 plus light fixtures. A typical shop might have 50 recessed downlighters, 50 track mounted spots and other ancilliary fixtures. Some of the shops are within stores and use 100% artificial lighting but most are in malls where there is also a daylight element at the front of shop.

I have to battle between very tight deadlines and producing images which are as convincing as possible. I suppose I could use dummy light fixtures (ie. white luminous lamp, no C4D light) and create the lighting with a few area lights etc. but I’m worried the image will end up looking flat and boring without all the drama created by the spots etc.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Nick
