General Error(41) Quick Help….
I re-installed my os and then I had to re-install FCP5 studio. All my projects are there on the raid. I can’t re open anything in FCP. Captured clips open render files open but saved files don’t open on FCP…….Thanks a lot for ur help!!!!! I get General error(41) when I try to open the files!!!!

Did you remember to update FCP and all related software such as QT? If not, do that…

That is what I was thinking about….but will be hard to do right now. The reason for the re-install was I was having problems with the internet connection @ work. I’m drop packets like crazy on pings. So I can’t get up dates right now. But we are going to call tech so we can take it to our apple cert. shop here. Thanks Mr. Roth

Don’t know if this will help you but………… I just updated my fcp 5.1 to 5.1.4 through apple updates two days ago and ever since I kept gettin a General Error (41) everytime I tried to open a project. I just figured out that my shortcuts on my desktop and in the dock were still pulling up 5.1 and not 5.1.4. I updated my shortcuts and am now back work!!!!!

Same thing was happening to me. I reinstalled FCP 5, then couldn’t open my recent projects. Thought I’d tried everything and then it dawned: my install disk is for 5, but I had since updated to 5.1.4. I had to update again. Now it’s fine.
