  General Error on Cross Dissolve

  Whenever I try to add a cross dissolve between any two shots in my timeline by either right clicking and selecting or going up in to the effects menu, I get a general error that tells me “Operation not allowed.” I’m not working with subclips. I’m using the take that I selected in/out points and cut into the timeline. I trashed my preferences and it’s still happening.

  Any ideas why this might be happening?

  I’m grateful for any feedback.
