Gaussian blur
Very simple problem but something that has annoyed me for a long time now and would LOVE to know how to fix it!
When you add gaussian blur to a layer it always blurs the edge of the frame, how do i stop this??

Delete GausBlur!
Use FAST BLUR and check “Repeat Edge Pixels” (i think that is tha name in english…)😉

Ok thanks. Not QUITE the same effect i am looking for like Gaussian Blur however.

or try to scale the layer to 103%, with the GausBlur.

Id rather not do that as i need to keep it at 100%

you are right, 103% scale is more like a “cheat” and not the reals way to do it.

Use Lens Blur. It is more similar to Gaussian Blur and there is an option for Repeat Edge Pixels which will sort this problem.

you can add an effect like motion tile or cc repetile prior to the gausian blur effect to repeate the edges of the layer prior to blurring.
for motion tile, select ‘mirror edges’ and increase the output height and width a bit. for cc repetile set tiling to unfold or slide and then increase the expansion for all sides.
you could also use cc composite setting composite to behind and uncheck the ‘rgb only’ option. this puts a copy of the original behind the blurred copy, which will look better, but the edges will not be quite as blurred.

one more, adding remove color matting seems to work reasonably well.

last one… possibly the best option: add set matte and uncheck the option to ‘composite matte with original’… it seems to hold up well no matter how much i blur the layer.
