Garbled video using Digital Cinema Desktop Preview

Ok, things have improved a bit.
Turning off the HDTV up/down Convertor in the system prefs allows me to view HD material on the Dell through the component input. However, it only functions in the 23.976 > 29.97 output mode. Attempting to send a 23.976 1080 signal directly to the monitor continues to hang the card, and require a system reboot.
Progress, yes. But I was hoping to view things at 24P.

I just borrowed a HDlink from the dealer I bought the Decklink from.
Exactly the same thing happens when I set the output to 1080 23.976. Display goes black and the card hangs. Quitting FCP, I see that the Blackmagic Desktop has also disappeared. Only rebooting brings the card back. Again, the 23.976 > 59.97 displays properly. Is this normal?
