  • Garbage matte to remove parts of background?

Posted by Stan Welks on February 28, 2009 at 11:11 pm

I want to shoot video of myself in front of a green screen, though the way the room is set up, the green screen will be behind me, though other parts of the background in the frame of video will not have the green screen in the shot.

    1. Are there any drawbacks to using a garbage matte to draw a matte around only the portion of video that I am in front of the green screen to get rid of the background?

    2. Once the background is completely removed, is there a way to ensure I am always positioned in the same location in the frame? I intend to scale myself up and down and move myself to different spots in FCP and want to always bring myself back to the original location at the end.

    Thanks!

The garbage matte should work fine. Once you are keyed you can move or size yourself anywhere.

    Have a wonderful day.
