Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Gap bug

    Hello!

I have this extremely annoying bug – when I copy-paste a bunch of gaps with connected titles and sound, the cuts between gaps disappear and it becomes one big gap. I need these gaps! What do I do? Trashing preferences, resetting NVRAM and reinstalling didn’t help….

Here’s how it looks before and after :

Been a while since I’ve been on FCPX, but can you select all the gaps and lift them to a secondary storyline, then copy/paste the secondary storylines (Gaps and titles)? After you paste, select the secondary storyline with the gaps and collapse it into the primary storyline. See if that preserves the gaps for you.

If it doesn’t and there’s not other workaround, start using a still of black instead of a gap. You can use a Generator to make one that can be trimmed to any length. Set the opacity to 0 if you need it to be transparent.

Thanks! That’s what I eventually did, use generators instead. Seems like the gap bug may be a feature, as it reproduces in all versions of FCP X I tried it on.
