    Morning.

Here’s something that’s been bugging me – can’t figure out if I’m missing a setting or if it’s just the way things are:

I’ve got my Canvas and Viewer ganged, with the Viewer active… If I play, then set an “in” on the fly, the playhead jumps back to its original position! The in-point is set where I want, but why on earth does the viewer jump back rather than continuing to play?!?

I’ve just upgraded to FCS2, but this was happening in the last version too… and on all our machines.

Like I say, I’m sure I’ve just missed something somewhere along the line.

    Hopefully.

    Thanks in advance,

    Al

You’re not using the ‘open’ mode are you?

    Hi,

Nope – just a straight Gang.

Is no one else seeing this behaviour?

    Here’s a step-by-step:

    Sequence in the canvas
    Clip in the viewer
    Select Gang from Viewer drop-down
    Hit Play in the Viewer
Tap “i” to set an In Point

…and that’s where it jumps back to the original playhead position!

Any light to be shed on this???

    Thanks again,

    Al

Yes, that’s what happens. Not sure why that’s the behavior. May be a back and not by design. If you reverse it, play back the timeline or canvas and mark an In point, playback stops.

    All the best,

    Tom

Yeah – I’ve never really liked the way it does that either!

Doesn’t look like this can be changed, does it…?

    Never mind, eh.
