We have issues there relating primarily to the shared storage and how the Macs and PCs see the storage differently requiring us to continuously be relinking media when we shouldn’t have to.”

I have a really scary, rough, halfway solution for this. I’m not sure it’s ready for production or publication, but we could discuss it offline.
