I was sifting through some HDV footage yesterday, monitoring through Multibridge Extreme DVI-D to a Dell 24″ LCD.

when the footage was playing, the multibridge seemed to add gamma or contrast (lighten up the footage), but when paused it would look proper.

If i open the captured hdv footage in quicktime it looks proper so what is captured is correct. I don’t want to edit then find my masters have had a gamma shift.

anyone know why that is happening?

check the view settings in your canvas — you may have ‘show overlays’ of some kind checked ON. This causes a gamma diff between pause and playback. When overlays are off it should be consistent
