Gamma Corrector is being mostly used in post environment where AJ-GBX27 Gamma Corrector converts video recorded with FilmRec mode to desired output. You can convert tapes recorded with FilmRec for correct exposure, bringing midtones up and adjust contrast with look up tables that are included in the unit. Now video is gamma corrected and except maybe for color correction it is ready for broadcast.
Another common use in the filed is to preview FilmRec video on production monitor. Righ now only small Panasonic BT-LH900 monitor has built in Film gamma corrector so AJ-GBX27 Gamma Corrector allows to use any large monitor on the field and see properly adjusted images.

Thank you for the info. I have a movie I’m shooting in FILM REC mode and I’m getting some noisy shadow areas – especially when the shadows read as “gray” due to the low contrast of the FILM REC mode. I’ve been told I can run the footage through the Gamma Corrector and resolve some of these issues. I am going to do a final color correct on a Davinci 2K, so I’m just trying to figure out if I “need” to use the Gamma Corrector or if the final correct will do the trick. Any suggestions? I also am in Texas and don’t know of a post-house here that has the Gamma Corrector.

    Thanks,
    Blake
