Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Gamma changes

I recently changed my aquisition format from DVCAM to DVCPro 50 on a SPX800 P2 (PAL). I now use the DVCPro 50 codec in the timeline, where before I used Blackmagic 8 or 10 bit uncompressed.

I have noticed that when viewing the exported quicktime the Gamma level seems lifted somewhat in quickTime player. Monitoring through DL it’s fine, but this lifted gamma is carried through to my m2v files and when played on computer monitor looks slightly washed out.

I suspect it’s down to using a DV codec as I never had this problem in 8 or 10 bit.

    Any thoughts greatfully received.

How are you making your m2vs Roddy, I had this issue with some DV and uncomm 10 bit recently.

Rendering them out via QT conversion in FCP4.5 solved the issue.

I tend to use quicktime reference, but I’ll give your suggestion a try. Many thanks
