G5 Power Mac, FCP6.Need to ingest AVCHD
I have a project with sony z1u footage, shot hdv 60i and working in ProRes 8bit.
I need to incorporate footage from Sony NX5, AVCHD format. Despite that fact that the pref pane in PCP6 log and transfer window shows an option for AVCHD, a message comes up saying it’s not recognized by Power PC. I, sadly do not own an Intel Mac and can’t upgrade right now.
I’m looking for the most cost effective workaround. The person giving me the AVCHD footage says he could transcode it for me, but he can only do it using ProRes LT. I think that’s because he’s using fcp express.
Will ProRes LT work well with my ProRes 8bit footage (orig.shot on Z1)? Is there a better workaround. If I have to resort to buying something . . . even if I bought some low cost Intel Mac to get me through this short term, I don’t know about the workflow and whether I’d have a compatibility problem transcoding on an Intel machine and then trying to bring it into my system which can’t use any OS newer that OSX.4.11 Tiger, and FCP6?
