    Hi All,

I’m having some difficulty in that my G5 isn’t recognizing my HVX. I rebooted with and without the camera being on and nothing. According to Shane’s tutorial, the camera/P2 should up on my desktop as another drive… right?

I have it connected via firewire.

    Thanks!
    Jason

p.s. This is the error message displayed in the console. Not really sure if this has anything to do with the problem?

Try doing a software update- also having FCP 5.1 is key.

The thing is, that I wasn’t even using FCP. I was just trying to get the camera to show up as a drive on desktop. It seems like there’s no signal coming out of the camera. Humm… not sure what’s going on????

    Thanks,
    Jason

Did you hold down the camera/mcr button until the screen says 1394 Device? (it’s in the manual BTW)

    1) Make sure the camera is set to 1394 device. (menu #9/pc mode)
    2) Make sure G5 is on and FW cable plugged in.
    3) Make sure media switch on camera is set to P2
    4) Hit button to put camera in MCR/VCR mode
    5) Press and hold button again for a couple of seconds until camera switches to PC/DUB mode.
    6) Now and only NOW! connect the small end of the FW cable to the camera and wait for the two P2 cards to moount on your desktop.

If you dont follow this order it may not mount, although I just had it mount with the cable connected and then power the camera on and go to PC/DUB mode. Though I did already have step one completed.

Thank you so much. I guess I missed this in the manual. Once again I appreciate all of your help!

    Have a great night!
