G5 and Decklink 5.7 freezes after sleep
I updated to 5.7 yesterday and ever since the G5 would not respond (no cursor, clock frozen but desktop was normal) after waking from sleep. After a bit of troubleshooting, I did an un-install of 5.7 and reverted back to 5.4.2. Now everythings back to normal. I don’t really need the update so I’ll just stay with 5.4.2 but wanted to make everyone aware.
By the way, I did all the usual troubleshooting stuff such as trashing desktop prefs, BMD prefs, FCP prefs, and repairing permissions.
The card in the affected G5 is a Deckilink SP, other than that the system info is as stated below.
System Info – G5/Dual 2 – 10.4.7 – QT v7.1.2 – 8GB ram – Radeon 9800Pro – External SATA Raid – Decklink Extreme – Wacom 6×8

Hi Will,
That’s odd. Did you run the DeckLink uninstaller before upgrading to the latest drivers? That might help as I’m not aware of any other similar reports.

Luke, I did the un-install before updating to 5.7 as well as retrograding back to 5.4.2.

Same problem here on G5 1.8 DP (Rev A, PCI-X model) and Decklink SP.
Reverted to 5.6.2 and back to normal. -

We’ve replicated the issue here and should be able to address it.
In the meantime, kindly do not allow your Mac to sleep. Some strong coffee should do it. 🙂
