G4 + FCP 5.1.4 = No Video Capture
Hi.
Looking for a solution to a quite annoying problem. At our facility we’ve recently updated to 5.1 (.4 with updates) on most of our machines. Yes, we’re behind the curve, but so is a lot of our equipment, which includes a couple of G4’s (two eMacs and a G4 Silver) which is used for less render-heavy work (and more than that).
After installing 5.1 one of the eMacs and the Silver will not capture footage anymore (DV, FireWire). The other eMac still works. It seems that the installation blew out the FireWire communication, since at startup FCP displays a message that Apple FireWire device was not found. However you can still control the deck through the Log and Capture window. Moreover, FCP HD, which is installed on the same computer, does not capture footage anymore either. Deleting preference files yields no results.
Does anyone have a clue as to what’s going on?
