    Hello,

How can I use G-Tech G-RAID Thunderbolt 3 with my 2014 iMac with thunderbolt 2 ports? I can’t find a thunderbolt 2 to 3 adapter but I have come across thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter from Apple.

So, is it possible that I could connect a thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter to the G-RAID drive and connect a thunderbolt 2 wire (thunderbolt 2 on both ends) to my iMac and to the adapter. Will that work fine and give me thunderbolt 3 speed?

Or should I just use a G-RAID Thunderbolt 2 drive with my iMac?

    Thank you.

The Apple Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter works in both directions.
So, using that, you can connect a Thunderbolt 2 Mac to a Thunderbolt 3 drive.
Or, you can connect a newer Thunderbolt 3 Mac to an older Thunderbolt 2 drive.
Both work with the Apple Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter.
Other brands may not work, but the Apple one works for sure.

Thank you very much. This information is highly useful,

I made a huge mistake though. After several unsuccessful attempts in contacting G-Tech and after having talked to the Apple customer care number a couple of times, I still had not found a certain answer to my query. With the work pressure building up, I hastily placed an order for the thunderbolt 2 drive on amazon. I wish I had waited a bit more. Since I have unpacked the drive, I dont think it is possible to return it or exchange it with the thunderbolt 3 drive and pay the surplus. But I guess it’s life and hopefully I have learnt my lesson.

    Thanks again for your help.
