G-raid speed?
So I just bought this G-raid raid0 external hardrive.. but see
no speed improvements.. am I doing something wrong?So how exactly do you sync premiere up with raid and make
it render and export faster..If anyone could give me a step by step in beginner terms

Hi Kylie,
A few things…
A RAID 0 array is seen by Windows and Premiere as a single, albeit faster drive.
You don’t have to do any configuration on the Win/ Premiere side for the G-RAID.
Also make you are using a fast connector, E SATA, or Firewire 800 / USB 3, nothing less.
Now, A RAID 0 array is probably not going to improve your render or export times, since those mostly depend on the processor speed. Most single drives can easily keep up with the data flow of exporting and rendering files.
The added speed of a RAID 0 will improve performance while editing footage that your standard drive can not keep up with, such as uncompressed footage. It will also improve performance while editing large projects. HD footage could require as many as 4 drives in RAID 0, and as long as you have the processing power, that should allow you to edit without rendering to preview.
In the end, if you are not working with uncompressed footage, you may actually find that you would make better use of the unit set to RAID 1 (or 5 if you have a 4 drive array), since this will give you added redundancy.
