    Hi All,

I just wanted to share a strange solution I found to a General Error warning I’ve been getting. This isn’t something that will fix every General Error, obviously, but might help with future troubleshooting…

    The Scenario:

    FCP 7.0.3
    Sequence containing a nested sequence.
    In/Out points set
Exporting using QuickTime conversion to h.264

As soon as I OK’d the export I would be hit with the General Error error. Exporting worked on other sequences, so clearly the problem lay in this one sequence. I trashed render files and tried again to no avail. Didn’t get as far as trashing preferences because I discovered…

    The Solution:
Turned out that by accident the in point of my sequence was set 1 frame after the frame the nested sequence began at. As soon as I shifted the in point back 1 frame it worked without any issues.

    The Conclusion:

Well, there really isn’t a conclusion because exporting should work wherever the in point is set. But there you go, that was what fixed it so maybe this information will help people in the future.
