    Hi,

I am rendering out some effects on a timeline including a green screen Matte shot as well as some gaussian blurs and brightness/contrast filters on a series of clips.

When I go to render them out about halfway through the render an error pops up that says :

“FXScript Error : Syntax error” and certain clips are un rendered. I have quit out and rendered twice and the same clips have been unrendered each time.

Does anyone know how to get around this or why it is happening?

it seems that you have faced a bug in one of the plugins you are using
which might be beyond your skills to repair.

try to deactivate one of the plugins to see if the clip does finish rendering without error.
when you have found the plugin makeing troubles
hopefully you will find another soulution to get what you want.

and please report back the name of the beast.

    good luck,
    kurt

Well the strange thing is that the only effects being used are not plugins but effects that come with Final Cut, specifically the blue and green screen matte combined with a desaturate and brightness/contrast filter. All of these are somewhat standard procedure filters except for the green screen which is somewhat complicated but nonetheless ought to work.

The other possible culprit might be my clients external drive. It is loud and clunky and old looking and a brand that i’ve never heard of: “Ultra.” So I don’t know.

[Michelle De Long] “Well the strange thing is that the only effects being used are not plugins but effects that come with Final Cut”

nearly all original FCP effects you find under menu ‘video filter’ are plugins, but they are stored inside FCP

concerning harddisk: I would stop working with immediately and try to make a 1:1 copy of it to a new disk.
quit FCP – copy whole disk to new one – give new disk same name as old one – disconnect old disk – restart FCP.

    good luck,
    kurt
