Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy fxplug changes

    Hi
could anybody explain what the changes in the last pro app update mean in regard to the FXplug architecture?
Does it mean that FCP can now access FXplugs as well as Motion or only that it will in the future?
And when it can, does it mean that FCP using Fxplugs will use the GPU same as Motion does?
And lastly will all the Motion plugins (if they are FXplugs) be available in FCP?
    Many thanks
    Cofe

Good question and maybe the biggest change in the recent update. Probably explains too Apple’s reluctance to keep supporting AE filters.
My guess would be FXPlug support across all the apps and more processing on the GPU.

    Thanks Peter
Something is going on for sure 🙂
Reading the release notes for the pro app update again I noticed that for the fxplug change you need motion 2.1.
no mention of FCP. So maybe Apple is just getting ready to implement the fxplug architecture FC Studio wide.
But I guess we need an update for FCP first? Together with the intel machines?

Yes Apple have said that FXPlug will be rolled into FCP in a future release. However the Pro Applications Update isn’t it – just an update for FXPlug within Motion 2.1
