    Hi all-

Several of my FX plugs..(Vignette, Soft Focus) are now unusable and will not
render. They did before, but something has become corrupted. This happens with new projects as well. Is there some sort of preference for this that is beyond the normal FCP preferences we all know and trash with regularity? It’s not just the effect with the clip. It’s the effect itself from the efx panel that does not work with any clip. I get a big red error screen.
I obviously haved trashed the FCP pref’s already with no effect (pun intended)

    Have you installed Leopard?

No still on 10.4.10…but I have a feeling it is related to a 2nd video card I recently installed. I am unsure why some would work while others would not.

I would assume that as well, but I don’t have any experience adding a second graphics card. Since fxplug is tied to the graphics card, it might be getting confused.

If you pull the second graphics card, do things stabilize? What else is in your mac for PCI cards?

Thank god this has finally happened to someone else. I lost several FxPlugs many weeks ago and near zero response around here.

Major Motion wonk couldn’t help me either. We reloaded and reverted a few receipts but nothing has brought these filters back form the dead. They all used to work directly from FCP, they all work fine in Motion. Not all FxPlugs are affected.

If you want to continue the dialog, post a list which filters don’t work. I have about 8, mostly in the Blur category.

Actually, the problem is now solved. In my case it was because I had hooked up a 3rd monitor and that was interfering with the FX plugs. I unhooked the monitor, rebooted, and everything now works. I hope this is your solution too… I got this straight from Applecare
