I have several FX packages that I created and saved in the plug-in chooser. I’m thinking of doing a hard reset of Vegas due to some functionality issues, but I’m afraid of losing all my FX packages. Does anyone know where this data is stored?

    Thanks in advance!

Use the Preset Manager (it’s a free download from Sony), save your FX packages to the desired location, do your hard reset and then use Preset manager again to re-install them.

Thanks for the tip. I also discovered the location of the files as
C:Users USER NAME AppData Roaming Sony
(The forum system apparently won’t accept backslashes which would go in the spaces above)

They’re in a bunch of cryptic looking folders containing .sfg files related to each of the FX packages I created. I assume I can simply copy and restore those folders if needed, but the Sony Preset Manager looks like a simple way to do it.

    Regards,

    Bill

Copying the files will do you no good because those files are pointed to by locations in the Windows Registry. Using the Preset Manager is the only way to transfer these unless you have intimate knowledge of how DirectX uses the registry.

Thanks, John. I suspected it wasn’t as simple as dropping the folders back into the tree. I have downloaded PreSet Manager and will do it that way.
