FW800 hub
I just added a fourth LaCie drive to my Mac, for all my Final Cut projects and their associated elements. Since there’s only one FW800 input on the Mac (and I like the convenience of all the drives connected simultaneously), I’m considering getting one of these:

Has anyone used a hub like this, and if so, do you recommend it? I tried daisy-chaining the fourth LaCie drive to the third, and it FCP kept freezing up.

You could try to prevent drives from going into sleep mode in the Energy Saver preference pane in System Preferences.
Or try this software: https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/31158/keep-drive-spinningDaisy-chaining the fourth drive should not be a problem.
