May 1, 2006 at 10:19 pmYou heard right, but you heard the rumors. The newly released MacBook Pro 17″ has a FW800 port. The 15″, however, does not. Interesting…and the possible cause of that rumor to be spread.

May 1, 2006 at 10:33 pmIt seems pretty unlikely that Apple are planning to abandon something they have put on their latest laptop. All these rumours are based around the notion that no-one supports firewire except Apple, but there are plenty of companies making FW800 drives, so why abandon it? It’s a space-conscious, high bitrate solution, and whilst SATA is potentially better, it will also require an express-card adaptor for laptops.
Don’t believe the hype.
