  • F/W enclosure for SATA drives?

Has anyone come across an enclosure that allows for an internal SATA drive and external f/w and SATA ports? They seem pretty hard to find 🙁

have you looked at Granite Digital’s site? I know they make a lot of enclosures.

    George,

I own two Coolmax enclosures (see link below) that allow you to use either SATA or ATA drives inside, and they have firewire, SATA, and USB I/O. They are great for short term use or backups etc., but as they have no fan I would not use them for anything requiring constant hookup such as a video drive.

Thanks Walter. I couldn’t find a slimline version from Granite but, I will keep looking.

Actually, I have tried that case already and besides the fact that it is rather unatractive, I found it to be somewhat of a poor build quality. Functionality-wise it is exactly what I am hoping for however.

    thanks

I’m using an Acomdata external Sata that while it doesn’t have anything important on it, it’s been running without sleeping or spinning down for months no problem. No fan. Stays fairly cool to the touch.

Thanks. I didn’t see one on their site but, I have dropped an email to their sales people.

I just want to get an enclosure I can stick a sata drive in and put the drive in my bag and go to a client’s location. I thought it would be simple but I guess not.
