  FW 800 compatibility

  Can I use a FW 800 external drive directly with my Avid? I run Avid Xpress Pro 5.6 on Mac OSX 10.4.6. I have a G5 with 2 dual 2.0G processors and and ATI Radeon X800 XT video card. I’ve tried in the past with 400 drives but it hasn’t worked. In my old job, I had a very old Avid Xpress on a Compaq PC and that let me digitize and edit directly to and from an external drive connected to a USB 2.0 port. This same set up doesn’t work on my mac but if I buy an FW 800 drive, should it work? Thanks.
