Strike 1. Using FCP’s Text. Use Title 3D, Live Type or Motion for text.

Strike 2. 18 is very small font size for video.

Strike 3. You need to view the final rendered output on a PAL monitor.

Steve left out one very important thing. Don’t use DV compression. Go to Sequence>>Settings and change the compressor to DV50 or Pro Res.

Same thing… It will make you titles and graphics better because DV compression erodes the heck out of them, so if you can avoid the issue before compressing to MPEG2 for your DVD you’re way ahead of the game.

Thanks David. i used the Pro-res compression as you recommended. The titles and the image look much better now. only thing is, in some parts- the video became interlaced. (mainly during movement…). should i use the “De-interlace” filter for those parts? from past experience using the filter harms the sharpness.

No, do not deinterlace. If you are only using titles and graphics try again going into Sequence>>Settings and change Field Dominance to “none.”
