    How to get this effect:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySf48XqBPBs

As seen here. I’m not looking for the exact same texture/polygon twisting. Just the method to get that expanding wheel look. I know it starts with the tracer and the rest is tweaking, but what switches do I need to press in the stack to get the ‘expanding flowery’ batsh-t crazy cogwheel look? I’m so close… yet the stack tells me nothing. Nor does the Internet. Except the masters of the Cow…

Thanks as always. Any help appreciated.

it looks more like radial cloners with effectors than tracer to me

Thanks! How would I set this sort of thing up stack-wise?

Figured it out! Use a radial cloner with a tracer (with a spline shape and sweep nurbs), random effector and/or formula deformer. Animate the offset and radius in the cloner settings and have fun with the sweep nurbs and random effector settings. Gotta love c4d 😀

Hey there Brian. Well, all those months ago my solution got a fairly satisfying effect, but I think I never got the gist of your post or even read it correctly since you said it never mentioned a tracer.

Well, I’ve come to regret using the tracer because it’s such a stubborn and inflexible tool. My animation is quite long and huge and there is no interactivity really possible with the tracer.

Could you expand on what you mean by just radial cloners and effectors?
