[Claude Lyneis] “The Quicktime inspector opens the imported files (.mov) and lists them as Mpeg-2 1440-1080 at 29.97 fps.”

I believe that may still be a supported codec. Check the Apple list. But the issue is with files that require a 32-bit QT architecture. Since you imported camera files and not files from a computer, the issue doesn’t apply. Those were never .mov to start with. By ingesting into FCPX from tape, you have rewrapped the files with a current media architecture wrapper. Those files should be fine. Older files ingested in the past might not.

32 bits has nothing to do with it, except that Quicktime Player (NOT THE FORMAT) will not be updated due to the great minds at Apple who think only in your best interest and not about money.
Next to that, Apple will also not put a tiny bit of effort in supporting codecs, and is selling it by saying they are ‘obsolete’.

FCPX was not downwards compatible with FCP, and people complained but apple got away with it.
    Now it is happening again.

Do you all like having problems?
