Are there any limitations, like only through a multi-user network or something? I wonder if we’ll see more of this, such as with Resolve Studio? And does this mean Apple is loosening up ProRes licensing?

EDIT: Where did you find this? There’s no mention of it on the BMD site or the manual.

It’s FFMPEG Prores for what it’s worth.

[Tero Ahlfors] “It’s FFMPEG Prores for what it’s worth.”

Which isn’t licensed by Apple and therefore technically not compliant (although it usually works).

The release notes say it is licensed. I’m not sure why they would say that if it is using the unlicensed FFMPEG codec. Do you know this to be true? I’m sure someone on a Win machine could render a file and open it in FCP and find out. The old Legend Cinema tools is a great test. If it is non licensed you can’t change data like frame rates. All is greyed out.

    Anyone able to test this?

Would that be on Macs only?

This was posted on the BM Forum.

“Fusion Studio 9 looks awesome! The most unexpected addition for me was the Apple-certified ProRes encoding on Windows. It works perfectly.

The release notes also mentions optional support for FFmpeg:

‘FFmpeg can be installed to further increase codec support.’

FFmpeg is not mentioned in the manuals, so how do I configure it?”

So it seems it is licensed ProRes as this user hasn’t figured out how to add FFMPEG.

    And another –
“I can confirm Prores export is working on Win10 with Fusion Studio 9. I don’t have FFmpeg installed. Prores will not render through the render que, it’s only working through local rendering for me.”
