Fun with SmoothCam effect
I’m using FCP 6.0.1 and have recently discovered the wonders of the SmoothCam effect.
At first it would take about one to three minutes to analyze a short clip (under 10 seconds) and add the effect, but now when try to use it on a clip of similar length it says about an hour expected to finish analyzing.
Is there anything I can do to get my old quick SmoothCam back?

It’s calculating based on the duration of the digitized media NOT the in out point of the clip.
You can put the shot on V2 give yourself some handles,
EXPORT the in out of shot
IMPORT the shot and place in TIMELINEApply smoothcam to the shot (new clip, new media)
You might want to drag the media to the capture scratch drive and then reconnect it.
