I have spent so much time trying to figure this out.. please help? I can’t find a quicktime template with h.264, and when i render with the sony avc/aac it looks beautiful but the file is always too large to upload and the edit is five minutes. what i am trying to do is render something full resolution so i can export it from quicktime pro in an h.264 format, because i have been told that this is my best bet for quality for upload. any help with my situation is appreciated more than you know. thank you, anyone!

You are not gonna get an h.264 quicktime template to render out
from Vegas. Its not available. Quicktime Pro is what i personally
use when the need arises for that format, also the choice of
    other Pro editors.

I am not sure if this is an option for you, but I had the same problem. I had to send a video file to another producer who wanted a Quicktime file. After trying to figure it out, we both agreed that I could send him a DV tape. I simply exported the file to an DV tape and he imported it.
Not sure if that is an option for you or not.

Try rendering a Quicktime file using the Animation or Motion JPEG preset. They look pretty damn good.

If they really have to have H.264 use the MP4 render and you should be able to choose that option. Then just change the extension to .MOV and don’t tell anyone.

i guess what i am trying to do is render full resolution out of Vegas so that i can import to quicktime and export from there in h.264. what i am looking for is what i should render from vegas in to do that?

Since I can render H.264 directly from Vegas it’s never come up.

I guess if you need to do it in two steps instead of one look into the best format for importing into Quicktime. Probably MOV?
