ftp access on Mac OSX
Hello,
I have seen similar posts, but none that address the exact problem I am having. I am unable to access any ftp server using Safari, the Finder or FileZilla. I have tried 3 or 4 different servers that we work with, double-checked the username and password (aware of case sensitive), typed the address: ftp://….. and, after a long wait, I receive the message: “Invalid Username or Password” or if in FileZilla: “Could not Connect to Server.” I have ‘File Sharing’ checked and FTP Access ‘On’ in the ‘Sharing’ tab of ‘System Preferences.’
Something I noticed: When I try to connect using Finder or Safari: A login window pops up looking for my username/password and it has the name of my computer “Edit 2” as the default username. Does this mean the computer thinks it is connecting to some internal server or something like that? Why would my computer’s name be the default username when connecting to an external ftp server? I also tried connecting as ‘Guest’ and that does not work.
I regularly connect to these ftp servers on my PC with no problem. But it would make things a lot easier if I could connect to them on my Mac as well.
Any suggestions?
