Sorry to bother you. I’ve recently purchased an FS100 (Canon) and whilst the camera noise (audible) is minimal when recording, on playback (esp in EASY setting) their is a very audible hiss. This seems to be due to a very sensitive mic. One can knock the levels down which improves it greatly but there’s still hiss there. Is this normal for the FS100?

BTW – ‘hiss’ is not quite the sound but it’s about as close as I can get to explain it!

    Many thanks.

Sorry that should read HF100 not FS100!

I’ve actually just had the opportunity to compare mine against a display model in Curry’s. If anything mine was better! So at least that appears to be the average floor noice for this model. I think I’ll look at ext mics as I love the camera in every other respect. Any good suggestions for mics that really live up to the hype?

    Many thanks.

Can anyone confirm that there is really such a hiss problem with the HF10 or HF100?
Just wanted to buy one and now am not sure if that’s a good idea…
