Am I really as dumb as this thing is making me feel? I can’t even get the bloody thing to turn off. Hold the power button down for 3 seconds? Wait for the beeps? I get no beeps and the unit keeps turning itself back on. I’m getting charging errors and flashing red lights and it’s a little frustrating.

I’m trying to record in 720 30PN. Is this even possible? I know there are some formats the FS doesn’t like but there is absolutely NO mention of these in the manual.

Is there a white paper on the proper use for this unit with the HVX? I’ve heard that many people have had to call tech support to get this thing working. Has anyone posted the basic steps because the manual is not helping me much (at all).

You may need to have it serviced- I’ve seen one at least one FS that was kinda DOA.

It cannot, so if you’re in 720/30pN or 720/24pN the FireStore will not work. You have to choose the “Over 60” modes, so 720/24p, 720/30p or 720/60p.

So if i have already shot 800 GB of 720 30PN on P2 cards, how big a pain in the butt will it be to start mixing in 720 30P, or 60P?

If you have FCP 5.1, it can remove the redundant frames on import. Otherwise, you have to use the frame rate converter to get your 30p footage. It’s not hard, just time consuming.

Yes, you are that dumb 🙂 But don’t worry, so was I. The “Power On” button is not the same as the “Power Off” button. The “Off” button is at the bottom, and marked( yes….) “off”. It took me also some time to figure it out.
