from VHS to DVD but nothing on DVD?
Hello,
I’ve been transferring some VHS tapes onto DVDS linking the VHS player and the DVD recorder via scart. All looked ok, I can see all the videos (one for each tape, several in 1 dvd) on the disc when I play it back on the DVD player/recorder, but the disc seems empty when I try to read it on a computer. I’ve tried using VLC browsing the disc.
The final aim is to have the VHS videos as computer files.
Any suggestions on why I can’t access the videos from a computer?

With the stand-alone DVD recording appliances, you must FINALIZE the disc before it will work in other players. Please check documentation for your recorder. This is because you might record some video now, and then some more later, and the disc must be properly closed up once you are all done, otherwise the disc is still open to writing and to other players, does not look like a proper DVD when not finalized.

Yes, that is why I said to check recorder documentation. Might be a button on remote, or you may have to access a certain on-screen menu to select FINALIZE option, I don’t know which model you might have. But that should be the answer to resolve the problem.
