From Digital Hi 8
Hello,
This might be a question for more of the old school folks:) I have numerous Hi 8 (some digital, some analog) tapes from more than a few years ago. Remember those? I also have an old Sony camera that will play both and have a DV out port out for Firewire.
Like everyone else, I want to have the highest quality, given the format. Hard drive space is not an issue.
The question is, what would be the best capture codec to use under these circumstances? Should I just stick with DV NTSC preset?Thanks,

For a firewire connection, that’s pretty much your only choice.
If you want to add a capture card to your system, you can have other options like 8bit Uncompressed or ProRes.
