I’m an FCP editor but I work regularly with my friend who swears by Vegas. So as you can guess, we regularly run into compatibility issues between the two dueling banjos.

He cut a music video on Vegas, I colored the raw clips used through Apple Color, rendered them out as .mov’s with ProRes, now we’re having trouble getting them back into the Vegas edit for final export.

His 64-bit Win version is more haphazard with the files, taking some but showing black video, or not taking them at all. His 32-bit version will also take MOST of the files, but again they all show up as black. We’ve made sure he has the most up-to-date ProRes QT decoder for Windows.

Please help! I’m completely boggled at this point.

The latest version of Quicktime 7.6.6 broke Vegas Pro 9.0c. Tell him to update to Vegas Pro 9.0d and it should fix the black video problem.

    Thanks, John!

The two Vegas editors in my studio will probably find this very helpful.
