from avid to fcp
Just finished a project on my avid system at home. The project has to be translated into spanish. What I’d like to do is export the project without music and graphics so that it can be sent to my friend/translator in California. He works in FCP. Ideally it would be great to have him be able to do the whole thing in FCP instead of just sending me the new audio track and me rebuilding it back in avid. I’m confident it can be done I’m not sure how.
Thanks – RalphPS. I have FCP at work and have been taken over to the dark side…if I could sell my system and not lose my shirt it would be a no brainer.

Your friend purchases the Automatic Duck Pro Importer for FCP.
You send him an OMF from your Avid timeline along with the original tapes.
He opens your OMF as a new project in FCP.
He recaptures your footage and completes the project.
I’ve conformed about 50 or so Avid projects for HD in this manner now over the past two years.
