from 5 to 6
Hi all again , trying to get a jump here beforeTtuesday before FCP 6 arrives. reading the instructions ahead of time. I think I understand all ( forgive me , new to macs here ) as I read it the installation process will find the old serial numbers from my Studio 5 . My question is after everything is installed will all the old applications from Studio and FCP 5 be removed or is this something I do manually ? if so how ? Thanks as always for answers.

Good question. I’d be prone to setup a whole new install disk for the new apps… that way, you can always go back to the older if need be by rebooting in the older setup.

And to answer the question, yes it will remove the older versions, unless you rename them or possibly lock them. You should be able to run 5 and 6 on the same machine if you like. I’ve done it before with 3 and 4 or maybe 4 & 5.

This applies also for the upgrade, or only if you purchase the full version?

I’ll be doing it with my upgrade… if it were a whole install, I’d fully rebuild a startup disk for that too.

On another note last night I decided to update the all software on my G5 QUAD , FCP 5.1.1.( 13 h long )before the arrival of my FCS 2 in just about 2 or 3 weeks.
I then noticed that now the system update has on the list FCP 5.1.4 ,what happened to updates 2 & 3? Are now included in 5.1.4..I`m currently editing a short so for what I understood, once I update the software I`ll have to work with my project on the new version.
I don`t have any preferences saved so it should not bo bother me at all to finish the project on the 5.1.4 ….Sorry if is not to clear.
