    hi:
i have finished a sequence of 4:3 material but i want to convert it to 16:9. not letterbox but real 16:9 with a dvd flag.

what is the best way to do this?

i imported into squeeze, added a 16:9 crop and then created an mpeg 16:9 but the results are strange.
    any ideas?

    thanks.

You have to squeeze it in the 4:3. Make up a new sequence 16:9. Import the squeezed 4:3 sequence. Now you have a 16:9

You can put in a different ratio in the movement section of FCP and then largen the picture. You have to cut off a bit of the top and the bottom so the picture fits squeezed in a 4:3 window. You make a movement favorite in FCP and move it to the clips. All clips are the same. Now you have a 16:9 format. You loose sharpness and contrast.
