From 1080 50i to DVD??
Hi all,
I shot some footage on the sony Z1, in HDV. I then imported the footage to final cut and choose the setup to match the camera. I then exported this as an MPG4 video. Its telling my that the frame rate is 29.9(30) fps. Isnt this NTSC? I need essentially to get this footage to play on a DVD in Ireland (PAL). So (finally) my question…How do I get the footage to a suitable format- PAL being 24/25 FPS, while keeping great HDV quality?? -

Firstly check the camera footage to see what you actually shot. You can do that in Quicktime or in FCP. Secondly check the sequence to make sure that the frame rates are the same.
If all is correctly at HDV 50i then you can make a self contained quicktime using current settings of the finished timeline and then in Compressor, choose the DVD 90 minutes best quality preset to make an m2v and separate audio files to use in DVD Studio Pro.
DVDs use mpeg2 files so there is no reason to make an H264( or mpeg4) file.
