  • frequent cracking sound when playing back audio in time line

I have been eding the same longform project for 3 years on my computer – and have had no problem with the audio until yesterday. When I play back the movie in the timeline there is a popping sound or crackling sound in the audio tracks. I don’t think it is on the audio media itself because if I stop, and play back that section again- it disappears. I can’t seem to figure out why this is happening now.
I know of one thing that I’ve done wrong- but it has not effected the project, ever, in 3 years- is I’ve been cutting to temp music which is 44 instead of 48 mkz.

If anyone can help me with this problem I will be so grateful. I’m supposed to show the film on Tuesday- and would like it to play smoothly without frequent pops in the dialogue.
