  • freeze frames need rendered now?

Posted by Alan Stephens on July 8, 2011 at 4:30 pm

I’m editing a series of 1 hour seminars with power point exported to quiktime movies.
I have to stretch the movies so I make a freeze frame and insert with the movie clip.
After about 35 minutes in to my fourth program the freeze frames suddenly require rendering.
Also when I move a video clip I have to wait for ” Preparing Video For Display” which can be 15 to 30 seconds. I am working in HDV with 3 camera clips plus ppt on a Mac Pro quad, 10GB RAM.
Have I exeeded some kind of limit? The freeze frames have been playing real time with the green line
    above the clip.

    Try this:

Go to your System Settings (Shift + Q) and click on the “Memory and Cache” Tab. Increase your Still Cache. Then restart FCP.

Once FCP’s Still Cache is full it won’t be able to play back stills in realtime.
