    Is there a way to freeze the displacement during animation? I have displacement on in a texture. Whenever I animate the object the displacement animates too. Is there a way to freeze it in C4D 11. I searched the forums and found a topic similar to this from 2002. They recommended using a plug-in. I checked the link they posted, but it no longer works. I was hoping that MAXON would have enabled an option.

    What are you using for displacement? If it is noise you need to to turn all movement to 0.

    …or you might need a Stick Texture Tag

    I have the movement down to zero, but it is still moving when it is animated. Not sure why. It may be because I set keyframes on the displacement amount before I turned the movement down to zero. I also have a stick texture tag on the geometry.

    Can you describe how it’s moving?

    Otherwise … if you have MoGraph you can use the displacement deformer to bake the displacement into your object:

    * make object child of displace deformer;
    * set deformer to emulation mode;
    * place deformer in a HN object with sufficient render subdivisions to produce the effect you want;
    * make the HN editable or do current state to object.

    Of course this way you’ll wind up with a very high-poly object in your scene and lose the RAM-saving advantage of sub-poly displacement….
