I know this question has probably been asked a million times, but what is a decent frelance rate for an audio tech?

I am a video professional with a full time job where I am a jack of all trades including, at times, primary broadcast audio and house audio. I have done lots of freelance work on the graphics and video production side of things for which a typical day rate is $250-350. I now have an opportunity to get some freelance work as an audio tech for a television broadcast studio and have no idea how much to ask for.

I don’t want to over shoot, but I don’t want to screw myself either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am in the Washington DC area if that is of any help.

Thanks in advance for your help.

In NYC…at any of the major news organizations, $350 is about average. It would be a little low in a production house, and really low for syndicated or major national show.
